The Walk to Emmaus of the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia

VOLUME 8, ISSUE 5, MAY, 2008

[Community Bylaws]             [ Team of WV#99 ]       [ Pilgrims of WV#99 ]

May Greetings from your New Community Lay Director!

Another Day!?

Here we are! We have made it to another day. Another day to get up and get ready to either go to work, run errands, or play with the kids. Sometimes, we can think that we had a 'ho-hum' day. Even on an old television commercial, we see a man come in the door (in frustration of his job) and then we see a bird repeat the same thing the man had said: "I just can't take this! Not another day!"

People may even ask you "How was your day?" while others might say, "guess what I did today?" and some storytellers might begin a story by saying "back in the day..."

Then, we look at the calendar. We see that we have a doctor's appointment on a certain day. We look forward to Friday and the end of the work week. We go to church on Sunday and we also look at those "special" days that are set aside such as anniversaries, Christmas, Easter, vacations, and birthdays. So, is it really another day?

No, it is not just another day. God has blessed us each and everyday. He has given us the breath of life to allow us to rise and shine on this day. He has also allowed 21 new Brothers in Christ to experience God in a way that God can only do for us...on their 4th day.

We even sing a song to Him that says "This is the day that the Lord has made".

The Love of God surrounds us...today!

Now that the month of May has come upon us, we look forward to the brand new day that God has provided. On May 15-18, the team and pilgrims of WV 99 will be on the mountain with anticipation and awaiting the blessing of God during these 3-days.

How awesome is that!!

Our new Sisters in Christ will start their 4th day, too.

We, as the WV Emmaus Community, are still celebrating and praising God in our 4th day, and as a 4th day community, I am sure that all of us will be lifting up WV 99 in prayer.

So as we come to God on this day, let us feel his presence surround us. Let His love shine through us.

"Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day" (2 Corinthians 4:16/NIV), the presence of God is surely in this place on this very day.

DeColores!
